Charissa Rubey honored during National Small Business Week
Cayuga, North Dakota: Dakota Micro, Inc. today announced CEO, Charissa Rubey was honored as the North Dakota Small Businessperson of the Year during National Small Business Week’s virtual conference.
Under Charissa’s leadership, Dakota Micro, Inc. has experienced amazing year on year growth, underpinned not only by their durable and quality products but by innovating and providing the features and capabilities customers find valuable. Charissa’s leadership encourages the promotion of the company’s manufacturing capabilities and product lines, as well as strategically listening to customers and partners to provide solutions that are needed in an ever-changing environment.
Without risk, there is no reward, and that is one of the many reasons Charissa was chosen to be North Dakota’s 2020 Small Businessperson of the Year by the SBA. Charissa and her husband, Dave, have built a dynamic team and world class manufacturing capability in rural America. They spearheaded Dakota Micro’s origin and subsequent rise to be one of the premier manufacturers of rugged surveillance equipment around the globe. When asked about receiving the award, Charissa said, “There are so many great businesspeople in North Dakota, so to be chosen by the SBA is a great honor. North Dakota may be small in population, but we are mighty! They had lots of great choices, and the fact that they chose me is amazing.” It’s a true success story.
Charissa’s home and business are located on the 2nd generation family farm in SE North Dakota, with the buildings coexisting happily in the rural landscape. Dakota Micro’s facility extends from the farmhouse in which Dave was born and raised, the country home acting as an anchor for the manufacturing facility. Since its inception in 2002, Charissa has acted in many capacities as the company has grown. 18 years later, she is the CEO and President of a growing and thriving multinational corporation. As more manufacturing moved overseas, Charissa and Dave were determined to be a true American manufacturer, building and sourcing as much of their products in the United States as possible. When asked about these efforts, Charissa responded that “An amazing affirmation of our success as an American manufacturer was being invited to attend the 2019 Made in American Product Showcase by President Trump.” Only one company from each state is invited to attend the showcase at the White House each year. Shortly after the showcase, Charissa was invited to be on both Fox & Friends and Mornings with Maria on Fox news.
